Mineral Wells

Mineral Wells Texas

Mineral Wells is the largest city in Palo Pinto County. Founded in 1877 by James Alvis Lynch, Mineral Wells eventually became famous as a resort and spa town due to it’s “healing” waters. By 1920, Mineral Wells had 400 mineral wells and was billed “as the South’s greatest health resort,” according to the TSHA Handbook of Texas.

As of the 2020 census, the population of Mineral Wells is 15,479. There are five public schools that the children attend. Lamar Elementary which has pre-school thru first grade; Houston Elementary which has second and third grades; Travis Elementary which includes fourth thru sixth grades; Mineral Wells Junior High for seventh and eighth grades and Mineral Wells High School for ninth thru twelfth graders. If you would like a private school system, Mineral Wells offers Community Christian School which has grades K-12. We also have an extension of Weatherford College located here.

On October 4, 2019, Mineral Wells was admitted into the Texas Main Street Program by the Texas Historical Commission. Revitalization is occurring daily as we see new sidewalks being installed, downtown buildings being renovated and new businesses coming to town. The largest building undergoing renovations at this time is the famous Baker Hotel. When the hotel is completed there will be 165 rooms, 14 stories, a spa, a coffee shop, a restaurant, convention & business facilities as well as event ballrooms.

If you are interested in shopping, we have that as well. One of our most popular destinations is the Market at 76067. This is a series of different vendors located within one building. Everything from homemade soaps and jewelry to fresh produce and grass fed beef. The local Coffee & Cocktails offers fresh coffee as well as an assortment of cocktails and live music. We also have some great antique venues as well as delicious bakeries, such as Merrimac & North to visit.

As a destination to visit, Mineral Wells will keep you busy. From our state parks to our fossil parks, there are plenty of outdoor activities to participate in. Fishing, movies, bowling, hiking, rock climbing and more are ready for you to experience. If you would like more information or have any questions, please feel free to contact me at any time. I look forward to sharing Mineral Wells with you!
