Magpie Inn, you’ll love it’s elegance and charm. Monday evening our local bed and breakfast, Magpie Inn, held an open house. This is usually a semi-annual event to give neighbors and folks from around the area a chance to come and tour the Inn. I have lived in Mineral Wells for over 20 years, but have never had the pleasure to stop in to see it. This was a perfect opportunity to visit!
It’s location is great! You are near enough to our downtown area to walk to restaurants, antique stores and local boutiques. Whether you are here to visit our wonderful town and take in the sights or wish to relax and enjoy peace and quiet, the Magpie Inn will provide you with an elegant and charming stay.
The downstairs is very welcoming and makes you smile as you walk in the front door. I loved how the transom windows and pocket doors are still in place. You definitely see and feel the era of the early 1900’s and the wrap around porches make you want to sit outside. I can picture what it would have been like when the home was built in 1907. You can imagine ladies with their parasols strolling along the street and gentleman tipping their hats to acquaintances.
Upstairs there are five spacious bedrooms. All sleep two people. What if you have more than two in your party you ask? Well, one of the bedrooms can sleep up to four. The Magpie Inn can accommodate up to 12 people, so ask about booking all five bedrooms for your stay. I noticed that all of the bedrooms have private bathrooms and tv’s. Each room is also decorated differently, but my favorite is bedroom 1. It looks out to the upstairs porch and has three large windows that allow a lot of natural light into the room.
Although the Inn does not serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, they do serve what they call a brunch board. It includes fresh fruits, nuts, bacon, hardboiled eggs, waffle pieces and more. But, if that isn’t your style, you can request something more traditional. I asked the innkeeper if she did all of the cooking and she did tell me that she is a culinarian.
A stay at the Magpie Inn is high on my list of recommendations. It will make your stay in Mineral Wells a memorable one! When you call to book your reservation, don’t forget to ask about their excursion packages. The Inn has coordinated several different experiences and adventures for your enjoyment.
